I finally caught up on Netflix’s Daredevil Season 3, and man, do I have some thoughts!
To start things off, Netflix, please, please, please renew this for a fourth season. This is one of your best original shows on the entire network. #SaveDaredevil
1:Vincent D’Onofrio’s portrayal of Wilson Fisk/Kingpin is one of the most intimidating, convincing, realistic performances from anybody in the entire MCU. Bravo, sir!
2: Stars Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, and Elden Henson continue to richly interpret the classic comic book characters of Matthew Murdock/Daredevil, Karen Page, and Foggy Nelson, respectively. These guys are outstanding at their jobs.
3: Newcomer Wilson Bethel as Benjamin Poindexter/Bullseye reels off an incredible depiction of a truly heart-breakingly sinister character, who has been shattered to his core time and time again throughout his life, with no means of expression other than brutal violence.
4: The entirety of the cinematography department, including Directors of Photography Matthew J. Lloyd, Martin Ahlgren, and Christopher LaVasseur, are absolute GENIUSES. The electrifying long-takes and masterful shot selection are nothing short of extraordinary.
5: Composer John Paesano brings forth a powerful score throughout each of the 39 episodes that perfectly compliments the deep, intense, emotional themes of the story.
6: The stunt and fight choreography team deserve endless praise and recognition. Every punch and kick feels raw, authentic, and palpable.
7: Watching Season 3 directly after reading the “Born Again” comic arc from creative masterminds Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli provided me with an even deeper appreciation for certain references, callbacks, and impactful moments. The entire slew of writers, directors, and producers did a marvelous job staying true to certain aspects of the comics, while simultaneously giving the show its own originality.
8: While the other Marvel Netflix series’ Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist all have their strengths and unique components, Daredevil rules them all, (with The Punisher as a respectable runner-up).
Finally, Netflix, please, please, please #SaveDaredevil. That is all.
